As the eldest of fifteen children—yes, fifteen—I learned early how to lead with empathy, adaptability, and resilience. Guiding, teaching, and supporting others has always been second nature to me, long before it became my career.
My professional journey has taken me through an unusually diverse range of teaching and training environments: military commands, compliance and leadership development programs, donor centers, plasma testing labs, K–12 classrooms, and higher education. Each context strengthened my ability to quickly understand learners’ needs and design experiences that are both meaningful and effective.
I began as a swimming instructor in high school and continued teaching after joining the US Navy, where I served primarily in Information Technology while also acting as a training manager. I designed curriculum, developed content, facilitated technical and compliance training, and assessed communications exercises for more than a dozen ships. I even found time to tutor in the Armed Forces YMCA Homework Helpers program.
After seven years of active duty, I pursued my passion for training more formally. I worked as a guest teacher during undergrad, supported student veterans at my university, authored a VA transition handbook, and redesigned the university’s VA website to better serve its users. I then earned my master’s degree in Communication Studies with a focus on instructional communication while completing additional training through a Teaching and Learning Academy. During that time, I began teaching undergraduate classes and later continued teaching night courses while exploring the world of corporate training.
Today, I blend my background in technology, communication, and education to design innovative learning experiences. My approach integrates instructional design principles with insights from UX, interaction, and visual design. I prioritize the full spectrum of learning—cognitive, affective, and behavioral—and create solutions rooted in research, clarity, and practical application.
